ScotDance Alberta, Edmonton Highland Dancing Association, and Alberta Highland Dancing Association are pleased to host the ScotDance Canada Championship Series 2012 – July 11 -15 and welcome you to the spectacular Ice Palace in the West Edmonton Mall.
The ScotDance Canada Championship Series (SDCCS) – Edmonton 2012 features the Canadian Inter-Provincial Championships and the ScotDance Canada Open Championships. Immediately preceding the opening day of SDCCS – Edmonton 2012 will also include the first ever Canadian Inter-Provincial Championship Qualifying Competition. This exciting new event will take place Tuesday July 10, 2012 at the Ice Place, West Edmonton Mall and will allow dancers from every province – who have not qualified for their provincial team – an opportunity to compete for a place in the prestigious Canadian Inter-Provincial Championships. Qualifying event competitors will perform the 2012 SOBHD championship steps as they vie for one of 3 additional spots in each of the 6 age groups.
SDCCS 2012 is also thrilled to welcome Canada’s Barra MacNeils to the Winspear Centre stage, in the heart of downtown Edmonton, where the opening ceremonies and the choreography events will take place. Competitors in the choreography events will dance exclusively to the music of the Barra MacNeils, with finalists performing to the Barra MacNeils live.
